It’s hard to deal with harassment and walk away feeling optimistic. It is especially hard because you know that the abuser himself will be just fine. He will get a really high paying job, he’ll stay married and he’ll have his reputation intact.

You, on the other hand, would have lost a good year or two to the crisis, lost a few friends and some of your optimism.

Which begs the question — what does the future hold?

I have 2 parts to this answer.

The Bad

I believe that powerful people will continue to get away with bad behaviour. And here is why:

  1. Bill Cosby, the man who drugged and sexually harassed 60 women, was released from jail earlier this year.
  2. Brett Kavanaugh is a Supreme Court Justice
  3. Donald Trump remained a president despite all the allegations against him

The Good

I believe that the tides are turning. There is a long way to go, but as more women rise to the top, I believe laws will change and the process will become fairer. Here is why:

Whitney Wolfe Herd who publicly went up against Tinder on a Sexual Discrimination lawsuit, settled for a million, founded Bumble and became a billionaire.

So, to sum up, I think change is coming. Slowly, but it is coming. And I do believe that everything is getting better.
